Not because I want to dick the original creator over by, I dunno, adding wings and saying "look, this is my original species! If you want one pay a 100 dollars!". I'm pretty good at making up stuff so there hopefully won't be too much of a comparison issue.
I dunno, the idea of a species in which I have no clue where they live, how they live, what they can do ect. doesn't sit quite well with me, especially if it's not something I'm too interested in. As a person who hates to break rules (even if said rules are small and won't have much of an effect), I like to have full control of what I do so I don't end up doing something the original creator doesn't want me to do.

Ah, yes, I have, and thankfully I got a yes, so that's great!
I'm thinking of adding wings to them, and make them a little bigger, and most likely give them horns (because dragons).
And Clockwork has underdeveloped wings, which is why he build those metal ones, because he wanted to show all those other dragons(?) that he ain't no crybaby and that he can fly, even with those tiny wings

Hmm... I'm thinking of making him kinda a cool scientist kinda guy. You know the one who seems cold and has no social skill, but has a heart of gold?
Yeah, he's that kind of guy, with a bit of steampunk added to it. Because steampunk aesthetics are cool.
And he properly build himself a pair of mechanical wings... that doesn't work well.
I will make some art of him! But currently I am busy with other projects, so I don't know when I'll be able to draw him
